2 windy May days at the beach.

Island View Beach is one of my favourite places to go. Close and located in the Greater Victoria area but if you get there at the right time of day, when the weather is cold, wet, or windy or on one of those days where everybody seems to be busy doing something else it still can be very calming with very few people around.

Great for dog owners as dogs are allowed off leash.

Great for bird watchers and very popular: red winged black birds, blue herons, bald eagles, water fowl, and of course seagulls just to name a few.

And the vegetation has changed dramatically in the last 4 weeks. The wild roses are about to come into full bloom, the Indian Plum has developed fruit now, yellow lupines on the beach, and of course the yellow scotch broom, beautiful but so invasive! The seeds can survive up to 80 years before germinating!

It’s the perfect place to sit in the sand and simply do nothing, think nothing, just be. Being in the moment in stillness brings enormous peace and relaxation. Easy to do here with the sound of the ocean, the wind, the birds,….

We had 2 very windy days and it’s cooled off quite a bit with a chilly wind. Just like the rest of Western Canada with thunderstorms and heavy winds in Calgary, inches of snow in Northern BC and massive clouds on the coast.
