Day 10: Wattens – a recovery day and Svarovski Kristallwelten (6km)

Slept in, had a fabulous breakfast and then spent more than 2 hours figuring out how to get from the Lizumer Hütte to Hintertux in 2 days as well as coming up with a general plan for the next week.

I might steer into the direction of Bozen or Bolzano in Italian to see a friend, head more west as there is terrific hiking and wine (in Südtirol),…. we’ll see!

Stocked up on some basics in the drugstore and took my time, badly needed. My lovely host did all my laundry for me and even hung it up outside, so it smells terrific.

And then I had my first Italian gelato!!!

Headed to the Kristallwelten by Swarovski next. You enter left or right of the giant and then there are a lot of visual illusions, all underground.

The whole exhibit/garden is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year which is also Swarovski’s 125th. Lots of artists created all sorts of pieces under the creative leadership of Andre Heller who is a very famous Austrian multi media artist, actor, musician, poet, and author.

The largest crystal ever produced.

The crystal dome was amazing, giving you the illusion of being inside a crystal.

Loved the “chandelier of gtief” by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

And the sun!

They had old headsets from shows, Elton John’s Crown, tiaras, and of course a huge gift store!

The gardens were shimmering with crystals too, all over and Circus Roncalli was entertaining with more illusions and artistry.

Had a nice light dinner at the gardens too and water comes in crystal glasses here as well.

Not sure if I am ready for tomorrow. Long day, lots of uphill to the Lizumer Hütte.
