The season of fog – Elk Lake Walk, a story in black and white

Last weekend we had a lot of dense fog again. After quite a bit of snow and icy surfaces it was a real pleasure walking.

There were no giant puddles to cross and most of the melt water and rain was gone so the path around Elk and Beaver Lake was quite pleasant. Lots of people out for walks or the iconic 10 k run around the lakes on a Sunday.

Everything seems mysterious and hidden and the fog adds another dimension to the experience.

Colours close by stand out stunningly, and it feels utterly peaceful and protected. The limited views make it look like a different place altogether.

You could even imagine looking out over a bay at the sea.

And the closer you look, all small things stand out with the background of the unknown.

Didn’t have my loyal hiking companions Luke and Yoda with me but my friend’s dog Billie came along. She never gets tired, always checking things out.
